- An NDC member, Joseph Yamin, has cautioned the government about the state of security provided to Former President John Mahama at a funeral

- He cautioned the government to take security issues seriously as lives are always as stake

The Former Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, Joseph Yamin, has revealed that Former President John Mahama’s life was in danger during a recent funeral.

According to a report by MyNewsGH.com, Yamin disclosed that the incident occurred during a funeral at Asawasi in the Asokore Mampong Municipal in the Ashanti Region.

He stated that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) failed to ensure adequate security measures were in place for Mahama.

This, he went on to say, resulted in confusion that could have turned bloody, but for the intervention of residents and four security men.

Shedding light on the issue, he said that it is clear the NPP takes security issues for granted as Mahama was exposed to danger.

“Former Presidents Kufour, Mahama and President Nana Addo and Vice President Bawumia were supposed to attend the funeral, but the time Mahama arrived at the premises, there was no security man at the scene to protect the place.

I went to find a place for him to sit, after he was left standing for about 30 minutes. The regional minister came there with less than 6 military men and without police escort.

How can the NPP be so wicked? They knew that Former President Kufour, President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Bawumia will not attend, so they decided not to provide adequate security?” he added.

Yamin therefore advised the government to be proactive about security issues, to ensure that stability and enviable freedom being enjoyed by Ghanaians is not jeopardized.

He added that the NPP government is taking security issues for granted, adding that the move may affect the peace the country is enjoying.
