International relations expert punches holes in minority’s call for Osafo Maafo’s exit

- Dr. Vladmir Antwi-Danso, an international relations expert, has slammed the call by the minority in Parliament for Senior Minister Osafo Maafo's removal from office

- According to him, it is an exercise in futility

- In his opinion, Osafo Maafo's comment is not enough to warrant his removal from office

International relations expert, Dr. Vladmir Antwi-Danso, has described the threat by the minority in Parliament to push for Senior Minister Osafo Maafo’s exit from office as a misplaced priority.

According to him, inasmuch as the minority have a right to call for the minister’s exit, it is an exercise in futility.

Dr. Antwi-Danso’s comment follow the decision by the minority to demand Osafo Maafo’s exit following his comments about the deportation of Chinese national, Aisha Huang, from Ghana.

Per a report by Myjoyonline.com, he explained the process would be nothing more than an intriguing exercise to test the constitution.

“Personally, if you asked me, I wouldn’t say the impeachment process is very necessary. But politics is politics, and we are all students of politics. So I am intrigued and I want to see how it pans out,” he said.

He added that Osafo Maafo’s justification for the government’s decision to discontinue a case against Huang, despite being a clear gaffe, is not serious enough to force him out office.

He said he understands Osafo-Maafo’s explanation to be consistent with how nations deal with each other, only that the senior minister’s delivery was poor.

YEN.com.gh understands that the minority in Parliament has filed a motion for censure against Osafo Maafo.
