YEN.com.gh has learned that Fred Chidi, a former news editor of Joy FM and Citi FM, abused his wife, Edith Efua Chidi.

Information available suggests that Edith described her husband as a “two-faced tomcat, who treated me well when there were people around and switched off into an abusive monster once the cameras are off.”

Sharing the details of the story of her abuse on her blog, efuachidi.wordpress.com, she added she lived in fear of constant beating anytime she complained of items missing in the house.

According to her, he used to be “the best drug ever. The high of being with him was intoxicating. Nervous butterflies were on a rampage in my stomach, which did a bit of a flip every time I saw him.”

Per a report by pulse.com.gh she added that she soon realized she was in an abusive relationship which deprived her of happiness and self-respect.

Edith went on to say that Fred had a lover who played an active role in her torment and abuse.

She, however, thought she could help him change and become a better man but he repaid her with scorn, hatred, lies and permanent scars.

Edith added that even though she was constantly left with a swollen face after rounds of beating, she never gathered courage to take legal action against him.

This, she explained, is because she felt so little and doubted her capabilities but she still refused to give up.

She once recalled a time at the Tamale Teaching Hospital where she went with split lips. Edith maintained she tripped and fell even after the doctor advised her to report to the police.

YEN.com.gh has gathered that Fred is meanwhile unavailable to share his side of the story and efforts are being made to verify claims of abuse made at the police station.
