Students of the Robotics Club at the Obuasi Senior High Technical School in the Obuasi Municipal District of the Ashanti Region, have converted a plastic bucket into an electronic hand-washing tap to prevent the spread of the COVID-19.
This latest innovation comes amid the outbreak of the novel Coronavirus and its rise across nations of the world.
Countries including Ghana have outlined guidelines to stern the spread of the dreaded disease including advocating regular hand washing with soap under running water to observe personal hygiene.
With the novel innovation, students and if procured in large quantities, users would not have to worry about touching the tap against any possible infection and spread of the COVID-19.

An impressive video gaining traction on social media has a student of the Obuasi Senior High Technical School showing how the electronic bucket tap works.
The video opens with the male student walking towards the touch-free electronic bucket tap in his school uniform to demonstrate how the Robotic Club’s new innovation works while informing the public about its benefits.
This comes after YEN.com.gh reported about Eric Buabeng aka Yaw Whyte, a Ghanaian creative from Breman Esiam in the Ajumako Enyan Esiam District in central region, who designed an artifact using a gallon to help people observed basic hygiene.
The 25-year-old graduate of the University of Education, Winneba, who studied Geography and Economics, converted a gallon into a hand-washing running tap to fight COVID-19.
However, with this latest innovation, users would not have to touch the tap to get the water running.
Water in the electronic bucket flows automatically once a person extends their hands to wash under the tap.
According to the student in the video, the hand-washing bucket-tap will help people to have access to running water to prevent the rise of Coronavirus which has infected 23 people and already claimed one life in Ghana as at the time this was being published.

YEN.com.gh previously reported that a suspected Coronavirus case has been detected at Paga in the Kasena-Nankana West District of the Upper East Region.
The suspected case was discovered on Saturday, March 21, 2020, by health workers at the Nakolo Clinic. Health authorities at Paga are making efforts to find out more details about the COVID-19 case. Disclosing details of the latest suspected case to ghanaweb.com, the District Director of Health Service, Hypolite Yeleduor, said the suspected sufferer came to the Nakolo Clinic from a nearby village close to the border on the side to Burkina Faso to seek health care.
