Live telecast: Osei Kyei-Mensah Bonsu presents 2021 budget on behalf of Ofori-Atta

The Majority Leader and Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu is presenting the 2021 Budget statement.

He is acting as an interim Minister of Finance to present the 2021 budget in the absence of Finance Minister-designate Ken Ofori-Atta.

Kyei-Mensa-Bonsu is doing that in accordance with Article 179 of the 1992 Constitution the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921).

Ofori Atta had been flown to the USA for urgent medical attention.

The Public Relations Office of the ministry revealed in a press statement that Ofori Atta was suffering complications from his Covid-19 recovery since December 2020.

“After recovery from Covid-19 last December, Mr. Ofori Atta has medical complications which doctors advise, require further interventions not currently available in Ghana,” excerpts of the statement added.

Ofori Atta was expected however to spend two weeks abroad and return for his appearance before the Appointments of Parliament for vetting for his portfolio.
