A female Ghanaian diener, Mercy Okaija, has recounted how she became a mortuary attendant despite the stigma attached to the profession.

Speaking in an interview on TV3's The Day Show hosted by Berla Mundi, she revealed that she decided to pursue a mortuary career herself at age 26 against the desire of her mother who wanted her to get a different job.

Okaija disclosed that she developed an interest in the job because she realised it takes courage for one to become a mortuary attendant.
