The most powerful man in the world is in mourning following the death of his family dog.

Via a social media post on June 19, 2021, US President Joe Biden announced the passing of the family pooch.

Biden revealed that the dog was a German Shepherd named Champ and had been with his family for 13 years.

“Our hearts are heavy today as we let you all know that our beloved German Shepherd, Champ, passed away peacefully at home,” he wrote.

He described the dog as a cherished companion, saying the Biden family adored him.

According to President Biden, despite the Champ’s waning strength during its final days, the canine would pull himself up with his tail wagging whenever a family member walked into the room.

“Wherever we were, he wanted to be, and everything was instantly better when he was next to us,” he stated.

Biden let on that Champ loved curling up in front of the fireplace at the end of the day. He describing the canine as a comforting presence during meetings.

The president said that Champ has been with his family through thick and thin before declaring love for the deceased dog.

“In our most joyful moments and our most grief-stricken days, he was there with us, sensitive to our every unspoken feeling and emotion. We love our sweet, good boy and will miss him always,” he wrote.

Netizens condoled with the Biden family, writing:

Biden’s fall

On March 19, TUKO.co.ke reported that Biden’s health became the subject of online discussion after he stumbled multiple times while boarding Air Force One.

A widely shared video depicted Biden stumbling and falling to his knees thrice.

On reaching the plane’s door, he gave a salute before disappearing inside.
