Akufo-Addo jabs Mahama: I spent $289M on 3 interchanges and he spent $260M on one

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has slammed John Mahama, the former President of Ghana for not being efficient with the funds of Ghana.
Citing an example to back his statement, the latter stated that his government is spending $289 million to build three interchanges whilst the previous administration led by Mahama spent $260 million on only one.
According to a Citi News report, President Akufo-Addo shared the opinion whilst commissioning the four-tier Pokuase Interchange on Friday, July 9, 2021.

“Indeed, $289 million has been used by the Akufo-Addo government to construct three interchanges (at Pokuase, Obetsebi Lamptey, and Tamale) as opposed to $260 million used by the Mahama government to construct only the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange. These are further examples of the fact that we in the NPP are good protectors of the public purse,” said President Akufo-Addo.

Meanwhile, Kwame Baffoe Abronye, also known as Abronye, the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has taken the government to court over monthly salaries for the wives of the President and his Vice.
On Wednesday, July 7, YEN.com.gh reported the decision of the government to adopt the recommendation of an emolument committee to ensure that the spouses of the President and Vice President are paid for their roles on a monthly basis.
On Thursday, July 8, 2021, Abronye filed an application at the Supreme Court asking the Justices to declare the decision invalid. He cited the case of the presidential wives not being Article 71 officeholders for his suit.
Also, media personality, Nana Aba Anamoah has expressed gratitude to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for his decision to foot the surgery bill to separate Ghanaian conjoined twins. In a post on Instagram, Anamoah shared a photo of the twins and their mother.
