The community of Simiw in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abirem (KEEA) District witnessed a remarkable health outreach initiative organized by JF ITHAND FIRM CARE FOUNDATION.

The exercise, which provided free health screenings and National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) registration and renewal, was a significant milestone in the NGO’s mission to promote accessible healthcare for underserved communities.

The event, which took place on Saturday, 28th December 2024, attracted hundreds of residents, including children, the elderly, and vulnerable groups in the community

The event, spearheaded by JF ITHAND FIRM CARE FOUNDATION and its dedicated team of healthcare professionals, including Dr. (Med) Samuel Donkor Jnr of the Volta River Authority Hospital in Akosombo, Dr. (Med) Joseph Acquah-Mills of the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, and Dr. (Med) Nathaniel Sam of the Sunyani Teaching Hospital.

Their expertise and selfless service were instrumental in the program’s success, Offered vital health services such as blood pressure monitoring, diabetes testing, malaria screening, and health counseling. It also facilitated NHIS registrations and renewals to ensure residents could access healthcare with ease.

This impactful initiative aimed to improve access to quality healthcare and raise awareness about the importance of early detection and prevention of illnesses, what makes it Unique is that the JF ITHAND FIRM CARE FOUNDATION will make a conscious effort with its partners to take care of serious diagnosis from the outcome of the screening in cases the health insurance can’t take care of.

In a statement read by Mr. Obboh Kofi Evans the Programs Director, it was revealed that the Founder of the NGO Mr. Agyekum Boateng Joseph, who previously worked as a banker in Cape coast for five years, developed a profound affection for the community during his tenure. This deep connection inspired the launch of the health project, starting with Simiw as the first beneficiary.

At the closing ceremony, the chiefs and elders of the community expressed their gratitude for the initiative and highlighted the need for a small health facility to address the community’s long-term healthcare challenges. They also appealed for additional support to uplift the community.

Responding to their plea, the NGO promised to explore ways to provide sustainable solutions for the community’s healthcare needs.

“This is only the beginning of our journey with Simiw,” said the Programs Director. “We are committed to doing more and working closely with the community to improve their quality of life.”
