Akufo-Addo Donates GH¢100,000, Other NPP Gurus Give Huge Sums at Daddy Lumba’s One-Week Observation

  • Ghanaian highlife legend Daddy Lumba died on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the Bank Hospital in Accra
  • The one-week observance was held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, which saw several NPP bigwigs attend
  • The top politicians who attended made huge donations to the family to use in funding the funeral, which will be held in Kumasi

The one-week observance of the late Ghanaian highlife legend Daddy Lumba was held at Independence Square on Saturday, August 30, 2025.

Several people, including top political gurus, attended Charles Kojo Fosu’s one-week observance.

The popular political figures who came included Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Kennedy Agyapong, Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Alan Kyerematen and Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, among others.

As the Akan tradition demands, people make donations during the one-week observance, which is used to fund the funeral.

Ex-President Akufo-Addo donated GH¢100,000, while former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia gave GH¢50,000.

Kennedy Agyapong donated GH¢10,000, Matthew Opoku Prempeh gave GH¢5,000, and Alan Kyerematen gave GH¢5000; they also made financial contributions towards the funeral arrangements.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service gave GH¢30,000 towards the funeral organisation.

The one-week observance was organised by the Creative Arts Agency in partnership with the Fosu family. It was filled with touching tributes and performances.

Charles Kwadwo Fosu was born on September 29, 1964. He died on July 26, 2025, at The Bank Hospital in Cantonments, Accra, after a short illness.

Organisers indicated that the final funeral rites will take place in Kumasi. However, the date and other details will be announced later.
