Multichoice Ghana Rats Out Sam George, Says It Has No Agreed to Cut Prices

MuliChoice Ghana has refuted claims by Sam George that it has agreed to cut its prices as announced on September 5.

The company, in a press release, clarified their stance on the matter, saying it has yet to reach an amicable compromise with the government.
The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, led by its minister, Ningo Prampram MP, Sam Nartey George, directed MultiChoice Ghana to cut subscription prices or face losing its license by September 6.
During a press briefing, the Communications minister announced that MultiChoice h announced that MultiChoice had agreed to cut DStv prices.
He said the government has established a joint committee with MultiChoice Ghana to decide on a reduction in DStv subscription prices.
“Let us be clear—they have finally accepted that there will be a reduction, and they want us to discuss the level of reduction. I believe that as a minister, we do not need 30 days," Sam George established.
In a counterstatement by MultiChoice, the company refuted Sam George's claim and clarified its stance on the ongoing tussle.
“We will fully participate in the established Working Committee. However, we wish to clarify that MultiChoice Group has not agreed to a price reduction,” part of the statement read.

Earlier, YEN.com.gh reported that Sam George had halted the enforcement of the regulation requiring courier riders to have licenses.
The Ghana Postal and Courier Services Regulatory Commission began targeting unlicensed courier operators on August 20, leading to arrests and the seizure of motorbikes.
The minister acknowledged that the enforcement was necessary. However, he noted in a release that there was a need for better stakeholder engagement on the matter.
