A young Ghanaian nurse and TikTok creator, Abena Jennifer, has reportedly passed away in an accident on the Cape Coast-Accra Highway.

Popularly known as Abena Jen, she had nearly 20,000 followers on the video-sharing platform TikTok. She was reportedly a newly trained midwife who was heading to Accra to prepare for her national service when she died.

According to reports, she was one of five victims who perished in a fatal accident that occurred on Wakrom near Yamoransa on Monday, September 15, 2025.

Details about Abena Jen’s death

In a video seen by YEN.com.gh on TikTok, a close friend of Abena Jen, Nella, mourned her tragic passing.

Nella’s video featured numerous moments of her together with her late friend during her lifetime, demonstrating the close bond they had shared.

In the caption of her post, Abena Jen's friend noted that the death of someone so close to her had left her heartbroken.

“Abena Jen, you have left a deep hole in my heart, baby,” she said.

According to reports, the late nurse hailed from Kabenla Suazo in the Western Region and studied at the 37 Military Nursing and Midwifery Training College (NMTC).

Details of accident that killed Abena Jen

According to the Ghana News Agency, five people died and 12 were injured when a DAF truck loaded with 70 bags of rice collided with a Toyota HiAce passenger vehicle on September 15.

One person reportedly died on the scene, while four others died after being rushed to the Biriwa Polyclinic.

Many of Abena Jen's friends expressed anger over the details of accident, with some calling for the truck driver, who was unharmed, to be held culpable.
