The family of the late Stephen Kwabena Boateng, alongside Kessben Media, has released official details for the one-week celebration of life honouring the Ghanaian lawyer and business magnate widely known as Kessben.

The event will take place on Thursday, 17th September 2026, at Ridge Park in Kumasi, from 12 noon to 6pm.
Boateng, 69, was reported dead on August 20, 2026.
The circumstances surrounding his death have not been made public, and no official cause has been confirmed.

The news spread rapidly, particularly across the Ashanti Region, where he built the bulk of his business legacy, prompting widespread grief and tributes online.
A trained lawyer who operated under the Kessben brand, Boateng grew a multi-industry conglomerate that touched sectors central to everyday Ghanaian life, including media, hospitality, education, finance and logistics.
His business portfolio under the Kessben Group umbrella included Kessben Travel and Tours, Kessben Driving School, Kessben Computer School, Kessben Shipping and Forwarding Ltd., Fosua Hotel and Conference Centre, Kessben University College, Kessben Consult, and Kessben Foundation.
His media interests, encompassing Kessben FM, Kessben TV and Aseda TV, were registered under Kessben FM Limited, of which he was the sole shareholder according to the Registrar General's Department.
He also held majority shares in Multi Credit Savings and Loans Ltd.

The announcement of his passing drew an outpouring of grief across social media platforms, with many mourners expressing sorrow and fond farewells.

Dr Oteng shares Kessben's condition before death
Earlier, YEN.com.gh reported that the founder and president of the Angel Group of Companies, Dr Kwaku Oteng, opened up about the health struggles of the late Kumasi-based businessman Stephen Boateng, popularly known as Kwabena Kesse or Kessben.
Speaking during a phone interview on Angel TV’s morning programme, Dr Oteng shared that the Kessben Media founder suffered a stroke before his death.
The Kessben Group later confirmed the news in an official statement, explaining that its founder had died the previous night.
