The journey began when Raphael Phiri Jr and his girlfriend embarked on a project to build their home, an endeavour that is known to be financially challenging.

While the house would not only serve as their future home but also symbolize their unwavering love and dedication to one another, it cast a dark shadow on the potential for a wedding.

Photos from the event captured the couple inspecting the unfinished building before the man went down on his knee to present the engagement ring.

While sharing details about the proposal, Phiri disclosed that his girlfriend had kept inquiring when he intended to marry her officially.

“After we finish building” he responded, upon which the young woman complained that it would take long.

Phiri says he reassured her that the wedding would happen soon, only to surprise her with the marriage proposal eight months later.
