List Of Highest Paid Players And Why Asamoah Gyan Is Placed Ahead Of Neymar And Suarez

A list of the top fifteen highest paid players in world football has been released and Ghana’s captain Asamoah Gyan is placed as the 7 highest paid footballer in world football ahead of Barcelona duo Neymar and Suarez, Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale and Bastian Schweinsteiger of Manchester United.

The top fifteen highest paid footballers as published by Yahoo news are;

Eden Hazard (Chelsea)  15th

£185,000-per-week £9.6m annually The 2014/15 PFA and FWA Player of the Year isn't doing too badly for himself as far as his earnings go. There is even the likelihood that his pay could skyrocket if reports are to be believed and a summer move to Real Madrid goes through despite a not too good season at the Standford Bridge.

Thiago Silva (Paris Saint-Germain) 14th

£185,000-per-week £9.6m annually. For the Brazilian defender, Thiago Silva to rake in such income tells one his importance and the work he does out there on the field. He has actually established himself among the best centre-backs in the world since leaving AC Milan for Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2012. He has not been lucky due to injury but remains a committed player at PSG.

Bastian Schweinsteiger (Manchester United) 13th

£200,000-per-week £10m annually The big German forward and 2014 World Cup winner’s trading of Bayern Munich for Manchester United in the summer pushed him a notch higher in his earnings.

David de Gea (Manchester United) 12th

£200,000-per-week £10m annually. When Real Madrid came knocking, one expected Manchester United to increase his pay or the David de Gea walks out through the door. No wonder, he became the highest paid goalkeeper in the world when he opted to sign a new contract with the Reds in September. The Spaniard hasn't let this get into his head and performing well as a shop stopper.

Gareth Bale (Real Madrid) 11th

£200,000-per-week £10m annually To say the world’s most expensive player is not the world's best paid player looks quite illogical after Gareth Bale cost Real Madrid a whopping £85m in 2013 when he moved away from Tottenham Hotspurs, but once United beckons, Real Madrid needs to up his pay or he goes.

Luis Suarez (Barcelona) 10th

£205,000-per-week £10.66m annually. A quick-silver lining striker and one unlucky chap to have missed the Ballon D’or finalist; certainly he deserved the patience Barcelona had when he was serving a worldwide ban. Of course, they knew his worth and threw £75m as bait.

David Silva (Manchester City)  9th

£210,000-per-week £10.9m annually.  David Silva’s move to the EPL was a shock and if you could ignore the bait of Barcelona and Real Madrid, then obviously it comes with fat income. Here is a player who makes Manchester City make the headlines. He is one hell of a bundle of nerves for most defenders and a player that any coach will gamble on.

Neymar (Barcelona) 8th

£220,000-per-week £11.4m annually. - Neymar could not resist the offer to join the elite league in world football, and once he took on the challenge, it came with a deserving reward. After all, he found himself in a kind of the highest bidder situation and no wonder earns this much. He works his socks off for it too; at least his Ballon D’or nomination speaks for his as one of the top three players and deservingly so.

Asamoah Gyan (Shanghai SIPG) 7th

£227,000-per-week £11.8m annually. The Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan is more often than not criticized for not playing in a top notch competitive league; yet he delivers. He perhaps has shown on a number of occasions why his employers would pay such fat income for his services. He has scored difficult goals expected of strikers in the World Cup against Germany and England versus Ghana friendly. Asamoah Gyan equalled Roger Milla's record of five goals; they are the two highest scoring Africans at World Cups. And won the golden boot in UAE top flight on two consecutive times immediately he arrived. As the seventh best paid player in the world at Shanghai SIPG in China, it definitely did come with a huge offer to wrestle the ‘goal machine’ of Al Ain.

Sergio Aguero (Manchester City) 6th

£230,000-per-week £11.9m annually Manchester City knew what they wanted; they needed to end their  long 42-year wait for a league title by roping in Sergio Aguero. They did end it with the Argentine in the 2011/2012 season.

Yaya Toure (Manchester City) 5th

£230,000-per-week £11.9m annually Manchester City's Yaya Toure is the highest paid African player and obviously a gem of a player who can take up the team challenge and grab needed victories for them. He is well paid for his efforts by the Mansours. No wonder he is a five-time African Player Of the Year.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Paris Saint-Germain) 4th

£250,000-per-week £13m annually. Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the fourth highest paid footballer. For a player to win12 national league titles in four different countries in his career to date and set a club record at PSG as the highest scorer, the Swede has the potential to become the highest earner any day especially with some EPL teams chasing for his services.

Wayne Rooney (Manchester United) 3rd

£250,000-per-week £13m annually Wayne Rooney could have genuinely been the highest paid by now but turned down the opportunity when Real Madrid came calling. United did reward him with a new contract which paid him well too. Injury has been his worst enemy for him to prove his worth.

Lionel Messi (Barcelona) 2nd

£275,000-per-week after tax £14.5m annually Lionel Messi has won the Ballon d'Or awards more than anyone but has Ronaldo to contest with when it comes to his income. He does not look like one who is keen on what he earns but rather one who wants to do the right thing with the ball and make his team win always. However, if he is to nod at the offers being thrown at him in the EPL, he could easily oust Ronaldo as well with the rumour that Manchester City are willing to offer £800,000-per-week in a bid to match his current post-tax earnings at Barcelona.

Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid) 1st

£288,000-per-week after tax £15m annually after tax.  Cristiano Ronaldo is the highest earner of all the stars and could earn more any day with PSG and Manchester United beckoning for his services. A player who is hungry for success and makes sure he pays his employers for it. Ronaldo’s merchandise alone is a huge turnover for any club, any day.
