Chelsea, Basel and the Football Clubs With the Worst Kit of the 2024/25 Season Thus Far
- The 2024/25 football season is just around the corner, and several clubs are already unveiling their new jerseys
- Among them, Chelsea and a few others have unveiled kits that are notably less than impressive for the upcoming season
- YEN.com.gh highlights some of the worst football jerseys unveiled by clubs so far, as we approach the 2024/25 season kickoff
The football world is currently witnessing a blend of fashion and sport like never before.
Many clubs have forged partnerships with fashion brands to craft special edition jerseys, a move often criticised by some pundits as a money-grabbing tactic—albeit in a lighthearted manner.
However, it must be acknowledged that jerseys have evolved into a crucial aspect of modern football. Wearing a striking kit for a season can subtly influence a club's revenue and fanbase dynamics for the upcoming season.
While some clubs have attracted new fans with their stunning new kits, others have seen a decline in support due to less appealing jersey designs.

Nonetheless, as teams unveil their latest jerseys ahead of the upcoming season, YEN.com.gh has compiled a list of what we believe are the most disappointing kits released so far.
Worst jerseys of the 2024 season so far
Chelsea's Home kit
When home kits get too creative, they end up resembling training gear, and this unfortunately is the plight of the Chelsea team.
The kit designed by Nike for the West London club features a combination of orange accent colours and a melting pot pattern, which is believed to be a tribute to the youthful structure and approach the club is currently embracing.
However, it has to be stressed that the kit appears to have come out far worse and less impressive than many would have wished. At least it can be agreed that it is distinctly different from the regular kits Chelsea have had in recent seasons.
Basel's Home kit
Honestly, it takes more than a quick glance to grasp the designer's thought process behind this jersey.
"Absolutely wild" is perhaps the best way to describe the jersey, without any intention to disrespect the club.
The home kit of the Swiss club resembles a hybrid of a Barcelona kit and a retro Japanese national team jersey. It notably diverges from the typical jerseys Basel has unveiled in recent history.
Blackpool's Away kit
Another football shirt that stands out on our list of bizarre kits unveiled this season is the away kit of English League One club, Blackpool.
When your town boasts one of the United Kingdom’s most iconic seaside towns and amusement parks, it's understandable to want to reflect this on your jersey. However, trust me when I say there are better ways to achieve this.
Nevertheless, Blackpool is boldly sporting this design this season, featuring a wild graphic design all over the shirt that mimics the rides at Blackpool Pleasure Beach.
Erik Ten Hag criticises Manchester United players
YEN.com.gh in another report detailed how Erik ten Hag criticised his Manchester United players in the aftermath of their defeat against Rosenborg.
The Premier League outfit kicked off their pre-season campaign with a loss away at the Norwegian club, courtesy of a late goal from forward Noah Holm.
The English football powerhouse will have a shot at redemption when they square off with Scottish outfit Rangers in their next clash.
