Kofi Annan’s children praise their “peace-loving” father in tribute at his funeral

- A daughter of the late Kofi Annan has read a chilling tribute at his funeral ceremony in Accra

- Ama, reading on behalf of his siblings, revealed how her father trained them to live life in a worthy manner

- She said their father also taught them to appreciate everything they had whether good or bad

The first daughter of the late Kofi Annan has said their father was a good man and always welcoming to everyone he met.

According to Ama Annan who had earlier cried at seeing her father's body, their father spoke the truth, and was very peace-loving.

Ama made these revelations when she read the tribute by children at the ongoing funeral ceremony of their late father Kofi Annan, monitored by YEN.com.gh.

In a rather short tribute, Ama extolled her father’s life as one perfectly lived on earth.

She revealed how special their father was in her life, especially, and how he taught all of them to appreciate what they had whether good or bad.

My father was very special in my life," she said , beating her chest gently. "He taught us to appreciate whatever we had whether good or bad because someone somewhere would wish to have it,” Ama read.

According to her, when she was a child, their father used to tell her stories, and gradually as she grew up, she learnt to appreciate him deeply, especially when he started with his many services to the world.

She mentioned her father as one of the most loving people she knew on earth, stressing that his life was worth emulating.

Ama also praised her late father as one who loved education, believed knowledge was power, and was always ready to give those “tools” to others, including his own children.

She concluded the tribute by saying that “I am very lucky to have [had] such a man as my father.”

Her tribute caught the attention of many in the auditorium and was followed with a loud and long applause.

The tribute also portrayed Kofi Annan as a wonderful dad who was there for his children, bringing them up in the best way he could.

The late former UN secretary-general, Kofi Annan, died on August 18, 2018, after reportedly suffering an illness.

According to his wife, Nane Maria Annan, Kofi Annan died peacefully in his sleep.

He has also been said to be a great footballer in his youthful days - something he did till he began taking on world assignments.

Kofi Annan's final funeral and burial rites were held at the Accra International Conference Centre, with representatives from all over the world.
