YEN.com.gh is in possession of photos of a student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Harvey Baah Mintah, who reportedly started a campaign to remove the Vice Chancellor, Professor Obiri Danso from office.

According to sources, he displayed placards at school events in a bid to draw attention to issues of oppression on the campus.

Some students have allegedly described Professor Obiri Danso as “Kumasi Adolf Hitler,” due to his leadership style.

Mintah’s placards had inscriptions such as ‘KNUST: The New Animal Farm’ ‘Four legs good, two legs bad’ and ‘students are living in fear’.

The protesting student, affiliated with Continental Hall, had also been calling for a students’ forum where concerns could be raised and addressed.

This was allegedly as a result of his lack of faith in the Students Representative Council (SRC) to act in the interest of students.

The one-man protest resurfaced on October 15 2018, in the presence of former President Jerry John Rawlings, who delivered the keynote address at the 2018 KNUST SRC-organized TEKTALK event.

KNUST is currently closed after students went on rampage and destroyed properties on campus.

A new Interim Management Committee (IMC) has been constituted to look into the matter and ensure that the university is reopened as soon as practical, so that academic work can continue.
