Rather than giving up or blaming others for your predicament, you must remember that God is always by your side. Fill my cup Lord sermon
25 And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,
26 And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,
27 When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.
28 For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.
29 And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.
30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?
31 And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?
32 And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing.
33 But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.
34 And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.
When you are faced with a problem that defies all forms of expertise and strategies, the option that you are left with is never to give up but to press on. The truth is that life is not promised to be a bed of roses, and so, you should bear in mind that at some point in your life, problems are likely to surface. While some of them may soon pass away, there are others that may linger for a long time. From the passage of scripture above, there are some wonderful lessons that can be learned from the story of the woman with an issue of blood. These lessons can also help you in that situation you are going through. Some of these lessons are discussed below:
1. Every problem has its own solution
According to the passage, the woman with an issue of blood had been to several places in search of solution. This must have been after several months of hoping that the flow of the blood would stop which did not until it began to linger into years. Even though she was not comfortable with her situation, she knew that there must a solution somewhere. The unfortunate thing is just that all the people and places she turned to, none of them could get her the solution that she needed. So, this leads to the next point of discourse...

2. The right source must be accessed to get the required solution
There are so many ways but all of them do not lead to the same destination. The situation of the woman with the issue of blood had gone beyond what just any physician can do. Please get me right here. It is good to go to physicians when you are sick or in need of any help within their care, after all, God gave them the wisdom. However, there are certain situations whose solutions are exclusively reserved with God. This is why until the woman looked beyond those she had been trusting would assist her and reached out to Jesus, she didn't get her problem solved.
3. She got thirsty for the "water of healing"
Knowing that you have a problem is one thing, and taking steps to get it solved is another. The woman could have heard of Jesus and take no step. She could also have considered the great multitude of people moving with Jesus and see that as a barrier. Instead, she looked beyond that. Her thirst for a healing made her to become desperate. She was willing to do whatever it would take her to get her cup of healing filled up. Consequently, she had to defy all odds and reach out to the healing virtue flowing through Jesus.
4. The woman reached out by faith to Jesus
In this journey of life, as Christians, faith is one important virtue that you need. To please God, you need faith (Heb 11:6) and to receive anything from Him, you also need faith (Mark 11:23). If you don't have faith, you are not likely to go far in life. In fact, Romans 1:17 also attests to the fact that it is by faith that a just man can live. After the woman with an issue of blood had heard about Jesus, she reached out to him by faith. She thought within herself that if she could touch the hem of Jesus' garment, she would be made whole. And guess what? Her faith worked for her. God does not usually deny a man of faith. When you believe He can do something and you hold on to Him, He will not disappoint you eventually.
So, what are you going through? Your own problem may not be that of a ceaseless flow of blood. Whatever it is, there is a fountain in Jesus from whom you can draw virtues like the woman in our subject of discourse. If you go to him with your empty cup for a fill-up, you can always be assured of that. All you just need to do is reach out to him by faith. By faith, you gain access to your divine inheritance and enjoy all that God has for you.
Having said those, an interesting thing about this topic of discourse is that there is a song that it comes with which is common among the Christian folks. The song, moreover, has gained prominence because of the inspiration that can be derived from it. Apart from that, it tends to serve as a source of comfort anyone going through a trying time as they cry their heart to God.

"Fill my cup Lord" lyrics
[STANZA 1]
Like the woman at the well, I was seeking
For things that could not satisfy.
And then I heard my Savior speaking—
“Draw from My well that never shall run dry.”
[CHORUS]
Fill my cup, Lord;
I lift it up Lord;
Come and quench this thirsting of my soul.
Bread of Heaven, feed me till I want no more.
Fill my cup, fill it up and make me whole.
[STANZA 2]
There are millions in this world who are seeking
For pleasures earthly goods afford.
But none can match the wondrous treasure
That I find in Jesus Christ my Lord.
[CHORUS]
Fill my cup, Lord;
I lift it up Lord;
Come and quench this thirsting of my soul.
Bread of Heaven, feed me till I want no more.
Fill my cup, fill it up and make me whole.
[STANZA 3]
So my brother if the things that this world gives you
Leave hungers that won’t pass away,
My blessed Lord will come and save you
If you kneel to Him and humbly pray—
[CHORUS]
Fill my cup, Lord;
I lift it up Lord;
Come and quench this thirsting of my soul.
Bread of Heaven, feed me till I want no more.
Fill my cup, fill it up and make me whole.

"Fill my cup Lord" meaning
Based on the lyrics of the song, it explains the longing in the heart of a weary soul who cries to God for help. As said earlier, it is a song that is used to express one's emptiness and the need for God to fill us up. According to the author, the things of this world could only give a momentary satisfaction but will never take the hunger away perpetually. This is seen in one of the lines where he said "So my brother if the things that this world gives you leave hungers that won’t pass away". After saying such, he was quick to add to it that through humility and crying out to God, He is always willing to come and save such a weary soul.
"Fill my cup Lord" song story
As you probably would have known, almost every hymn has a story behind it; there is usually an event that inspired the writer of that song to have come up with it. So, like others, "Fill my cup Lord" hymn story can be traced to when the composer, Richard Blanchard, who was the pastor of a church in Coral Gables, Florida had to wait tirelessly for a couple who was coming for counselling with him in 1953. After informing his secretary that if he waited another thirty minutes and they did not show up, then he would leave.
Having said that, the young pastor who was suffering from a severe lung problem and left with just one-third of his lung capacity decided to take a walk to a nearby Sunday school room. As he sat down to while away time by playing the piano, he discovered that in less than thirty minutes, while he was waiting for the young couple, God had already given him a song that would eventually be an inspiration to the entire world. The song is the popular "Fill my cup Lord".
Today, even after the composer is long gone, there are other gospel artistes who have sung the hymn over and over because of the impact and inspiration that it gives every listener all over the world. For instance, there is the "Fill my cup Lord" Cece Winans as well as "Fill my cup Lord" Booth Brothers. There is also another "Fill my cup Lord" by Hope Montana. All these gospel artistes have always credited it back to Richard Blanchard who is the original composer of the song.
"Fill my cup Lord" as a song and a sermon preached by different ministers all over the world have continued to be a blessing to many. In times of distress, it continues to find relevance because of the inspiration and hope that it breeds to every listener. This is one reason that it is usually one of the must-listened to songs that are usually recommended among the Christian folks.
