Takoradi baby snatcher claims pregnancy but changes story after judge asks for test

A woman standing trial for kidnapping a baby had to change her claims of pregnancy only minutes after judge tells her there will be a pregnancy test.

Mawusi Rose Fiaku, the woman standing trial for kidnapping a baby in Takoradi had to say that an alleged pregnancy had been miscarried only moments after she was told that the court would ask the police to test her.

In court on March 27, 2019, Fiaku claimed that the pregnancy had been damaged by a police officer who she claimed kicked her.

According to the Daily Guide report sighted by YEN.com.gh, the court was thrown into a mix of laughter and gasps of amazement, with some audibly shouting, "You are lying!".

The 42-year-old seamstress was arrested for allegedly stealing a one-year-old baby boy from his mother.

One may say the the judge, Abena Agyin Doku, was not very interested in the story that was thrown up by Fiaku and let the accused know there was a good way of finding out the truth.

Fiaku has been charged with child stealing and she in the dock with her boyfriend, Lawson Lartey, 33, who is facing a charge of abetment.

Lartey is however, reportedly retaining a different defence counsel because he claims he had no idea about the theft of the child.

The judge subsequently took them into prison custody to reappear on April 5, 2019.

Meanwhile, a woman with two wombs has reportedly given birth to twins only a month after she gave birth to a premature baby boy in Bangladesh.
