Management of the University of Ghana has finally fixed the streetlights along the Pentagon-James Topp Nelson Yankah hall road.
The stretch has become a notorious hide-out for criminals who often inflict wounds on students, rob them of their personal effects, and sometimes attempt to rape female victims.
The University is redeeming its promise to beef up security in the area by installing a security post there following students’ protests for a safer campus.
This comes after a final year psychology student of the University – Daniel Osei, was attacked by suspected robbers.
The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Professor Ebenezer Oduro Owusu, has announced plans to boost security on campus following an attack on the final year student.
Speaking to the media after visiting the scene of the attack on the Level 400 psychology student, Prof. Oduro Owusu said a strong collaboration between the police and the university would improve security on campus.
The near-fatal attack by suspected robbers on Daniel Osei made news headlines on Monday, May 6, 2019 and provoked a safety campaign on Twitter.
