9 successful Ghanaian celebrities who don't have a university degree

In Ghana and some parts of the world, a university degree is seen as a gateway to success.

Most of the prestigious companies in Ghana normally recruit applicants who have university degrees or better.

But there are some Ghanaians celebrities who have broken that chain by becoming successful, even though some of them have been awarded honorary degrees without ever stepping in a university for education.

YEN.com.gh has the names of nine Ghanaian celebrities who have become successful without attending university.

1. Shatta Wale:

He is one of the most sought-after musicians in Africa all because of his lyrical prowess.

The controversial singer attended Winneba Secondary School but didn’t continue to the tertiary level.

2. Nana Ama McBrown:

She is one of the richest actresses in the country right now. She dropped out of school in JHS 2 and has never looked back.

3. Michael Essien:

The Ghanaian football star attended St. Augustine’s College, however, he didn’t further his education.

He is one of the most successful footballers to come from Ghana.

4. Asamoah Gyan:

Gyan had his secondary education at Accra Academy. Though he is without a university degree, he is one of the most successful Ghanaians.

Despite being a football star, he can is the CEO of lots of companies.

5. Deloris Frimpong Manso (Delay):

The controversial TV personality popularly known as Delay does not have a university degree.

She is an old student Aburi Girls’ SHS. She was orphaned at a young age with two siblings to cater.

6. Sarkodie:

Michael Owusu Addo known in showbiz as Sarkodie is one of the successful rappers on the African continent.

He is a former BET award winner and made it to the top without a degree from the university.

7. Van Vicker:

The renowned actor schooled at Mfantsipim SHS. He has carved a niche for himself in Ghana and Nigeria.

He is a successful person without a university degree.

8. Majid Michel:

Majid attended St. Theresa’s Primary School before schooling at Mfantsipim School where he was active in the Drama Club.

His love for acting made him a breakthrough actor in the Ghanaian movie industry before making strides in Nollywood.

9. Samini:

Talking about top Ghanaian musicians, Samini’s name cannot be left out.
