Cash flows after BoG bullion van collides with fuel tanker; one confirmed dead (video)

- A video has emerged of a head-on collision between a Bank of Ghana (BoG) armoured van and a fuel tanker on the Techiman-Kumasi road on Friday September 4, 2019

- Reports confirm the amount on-board the van was GHS60,500,000.

- One person has been confirmed dead and several others injured are in serious conditions

One person has been confirmed dead and others injured following a head-on collision between a Bank of Ghana (BoG) armoured van and a fuel tanker on the Techiman-Kumasi road Friday, September 4, 2019.

The amount on board the van, GHS60,500,000, went flying into the sky after the collision.

Osman Zongo, the driver of the fuel tanker died on the spot and the Driver of the BoG van, identified as William Asare, an assistant of the Driver of the fuel tanker, identified only as Yussif, are both in life threatening conditions.

One cashier on board the BoG van, whose name is yet to be known, is also in critical condition.

The victims of the accident were airlifted from the Techiman Holy Family hospital to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Kumasi.

JoyNews reports that at about 12:30hrs GMT on Friday September 4, 2019, the BoG armoured vehicle, with registration number GV 88 -13, travelling from Tamale to Kumasi, collided with a tanker with registration number DP 4222 - E at a section of the Techiman-Kumasi road near Opoku Agyemang Hospital.

The fuel tanker had begun its journey from Tema and was expected to offload in neighbouring Burkina Faso.

A joint team of the military, Police, Fire Service, Immigration and the Bureau of National Investigation (BNI) cordoned off the crash scene and collected the scattered money into various security vehicles.

Monies from the scene of the crash will be kept at the Police Divisional Headquarters cells under the guard of the Military, Police and Bank of Ghana security officers.
