Man ‘defies’ Chief Imam and checks bet slip under billboard which says betting is evil (Photo)

- A man has been spotted in a viral photo checking his betting slip beneath a billboard which argues that betting is evil

- The billboard is one of several that have been mounted in various parts of Accra to campaign against sports betting

- It forms part of an initiative which had the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharabutu, saying betting is evil

A photo of a man checking a betting slip under a billboard which shows the Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharabutu, saying betting is evil, has popped up online.

The identity of the man is yet to be confirmed but the trending photo shows him positioned beneath the billboard of the Islamic cleric.

On the billboard is the sentence “SPORTS BETTING IS EVIL” and the memory verse Qu’ran 5:91 is added to it.

Per a report by celebritiesbuzz.com.gh, the billboard is one of many that have been erected in some parts of Accra, as part of a campaign against sports betting.

This, however, did little to stop the young man who is busily checking his slip.

In other news, YEN.com.gh has learned that the Electoral Commission’s (EC) district director for Bole in the Savanna region is dead.

The deceased, Alhassan Yussif Ayuba, lost his life in a road accident, which also claimed the life of his driver, Basiru Kojo. The accident occurred in the late hours of Thursday, December 6, 2019.

The late Ayuba, who was also a former deputy director of communications at the EC, was reportedly transporting electoral materials from Tamale to Bole when the unfortunate incident occurred.

The district director for Tamale, Lucas Yirel, revealed that Ayuba’s remains have been deposited at the morgue of the Tamale Teaching Hospital.
