How to make Sobolo

  3. Boil the remaining water and allow to cool before adding some to the mixture
  4. Drain the mixture using a fine strainer or clean cloth
  5. Add sugar and stir to dissolve it
  6. Allow it to settle for 30 minutes
  7. Transfer the mixture to another clean jar slowly leaving the chaff below
  8. Put the now filtered solution in the fridge, and it will be ready for use

Method 2: Preparing Sobolo with pineapple

This is the second method on how to prepare sobolo. The pineapples used in this method enhance its flavour and gives it an appealing smell.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of dried hibiscus leaves/sobolo leaves
  • One cup of pineapple juice
  • ½ cup of grounded ginger
  • 3 tablespoons of sugar
  • 4 cups of clean water

Steps for making the drink

  • Pour all the water into the saucepan
  • Add all the hibiscus leaves. Ensure the water fully covers them
  • Allow the mixture to boil for 10-15 minutes. By this time it should have changed its colour
  • Add both pineapple juice and ginger to the mixture and stir thoroughly until they fully blend
  • Remove the mixture from heat and allow to cool
  • Add sugar and stir before storing the drink in the freezer
  • If you want to use it immediately, you can add ice cubes to the drink
