COVID-19: AngloGold Ashanti confirms case at Obuasi Gold Mine

In a press release dated Sunday, March 15, 2020, seen by YEN.com.gh, a worker of the mining firm has been tested positive with COVID-19 virus.

According to the statement, the employee is a Ghanaian who lives in the mine's accommodation and he recently returned from a trip abroad.

The statement added that the employee is in self-isolation in his home under close monitoring by health professionals.

Per reports, the sufferer, who appeared sick upon arrival avoided contact with people and would not allow attendants at the airport to touch his luggage.

He, however, willfully reported himself to a health facility in Kumasi where a series of tests were carried out to confirm whether or not he had been infected.
