COVID-19 update: 8 new deaths send Ghana’s death toll to 66

- 66 persons have died from the COVID-19 pandemic according to the latest report from the GHS

- Ghana’s total COVID-19 case count is also at 12,590

- 4,410 patients have recovered too

The Ghana Health Service's latest update on COVID-19 for Wednesday, June 17, 2020, shows an increase in the number of deaths recorded.

The data shows that eight more COVID-19 patients have passed on to increase the death toll in Ghana to 66.

The total number of confirmed cases is now 12,590 after 397 new ones were recorded as of June 17, 2020.

4,410 recoveries have been recorded leaving the active cases at 8,114. 17 patients are currently in critical condition.

Ashanti Region – 2,362

Central Region – 694

Eastern Region – 284

Volta Region – 278

Upper East Region – 241

Oti Region – 101

Western North Region – 81

Northern Region – 52

Savannah Region – 35

Upper West Region – 32

Bono East Region – 14

North East Region – 2

Bono Region – 1

Ahafo Region – 1

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that the World Health Organisation has released the newest information regarding the use of face masks amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The organisation revealed that wearing a mask alone is not enough to effectively safeguard against the virus.

With global infections now sitting at over 6.8 million and fatalities rising to 398 000 while over 3.3 million people have managed to recover.
