Ghanaian artist and sculptor, Samuel Kumi, has captured the attention of art lovers with his unique and compelling works that interact with and engage the mind.

The Kumasi-resident sculptor is gaining attention across Ghana for his impressive works, some of which have been highlighted in impressive images on social media.

He has also received massive recognition for his commissioned sculpture, a 26 feet x 44 feet wall mural at the Cofkans Hotel in Obuasi.

The hallmark of his work is the realistic rendition of subjects through which he seeks to revive the indigenous cultural and ethnic subjects with a global and artistic discourse.

The native of Berekum in the Brong-Ahafo region believes things that remain to remind humanity of what is lost is equally important.

Through his works, he interrogates and appropriates from the socio-cultural space via the activation of visual forms to traditional ideologies, mythologies, proverbs, and cultural activities that are lost or seem to be diminishing from society.

Samuel Kumi’s mastery and talent as a sculptor is evident in recent images that are rapidly making the rounds on social media.

In some of the photos sighted by YEN.com.gh, Samuel produced sculptures of Nana Otumfuo Opoku Ware II and Ghana's first president, Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, among other designs.

Earlier in 2020, YEN.com.gh reported on how Ghanaian sculptor Victor Kuutuome, professionally known as Obama, immortalised Stonebwoy.

Obama, a student at the University of Education in Winneba, produced a near-perfect sculpture of the Ghanaian dance-hall artiste which went viral on social media.
