Musician Fantana’s mother, Dorcas Affo Toffey, according to reports, stands the risk of losing her parliamentary seat over an alleged criminal act.
She is said to be an American citizen. Fantana’s mother is said to hold an American passport and also an Ivorian passport.
This, according to a section of the law, is a crime on the part of an individual who wishes to be voted for into a higher office.
The post sighted on YEN.com.gh has garnered massive responses as it seems many people know about the dual citizenship issue.
Juanita, for instance, said Fantana’s mother indeed owned an Ivorian passport:

Akuapem girl wrote that this could land Fantana’s mother four years in jail:

Maame Sakyibea said Madam Toffey had renounced her American citizenship:

Meanwhile, Madam Toffey has not had it easy since winning the Jomoro seat in the December 7, 2020 elections.
Some youth group of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) invaded her house to attack her.
In that report published by YEN.com.gh, the attackers were seen wielding all sorts of dangerous weapons.
They were seen smashing the burglar-proof in the house in order to gain access to where she was.
The MP quickly blew an alarm over the incident on social media and the police quickly responded.
