Outgoing US President Donald Trump has left the White House in Washington DC for the last time as president for Maryland aboard Marine 1.

YEN.com.gh understands that Trump flew to Maryland where he made speeches at Joint Base Andrews where a brief farewell ceremony was held.

Trump boarded Marine 1 at about 4.15pm (EAT) alongside first lady Melania Trump and landed at Joint Base Andrews at around 4.30pm

Before boarding the presidential aircraft, Trump walked from the White House and gave a short speech to journalists who had camped at the entrance for at least an hour.

As separately reported by YEN.com.gh, Trump will not attend incoming president Joe Biden's inauguration as it has been the tradition.

Instead, he addressed his supporters at Joint Base Andrews for the last time as president.

Trump will be given a 21 gun salute and other rituals accorded to an exiting head of state.

"What we have done has been amazing by any standard. We have built the military, we created a new force, we were not a regular administration. We have been given very high approval rates than never before.
The stock market is even at a higher pint than it was pre-COVID-19. We have built it twice. Remember us when you see these greet things we have done. We have worked hard and left it all in the field. I will be watching and I will be listening. The new administration...I wish them success. I think to hey have a great foundation to start. We will be back in some form," said Trump who continued to hit out at China for "causing" the COVID-19 pandemic.

After making speeches at Joint Base Andrews, Trump boarded Air Force 1 for Florida where he will start his post-presidency life.

As Trump addressed his supporters, Biden was attending a church service ahead of his swearing-in.

YEN.com.gh reported that Trump's Vice President Mike Pence will be attending the long-awaited ceremony.

Former US presidents George Bush, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama are also expected to witness Biden's inauguration.

CNN reported Wednesday Biden will be sworn in using a family Bible whose age is estimated at 127 years.
