Pep Guardiola will, for the first time, come face to face with Arne Slot when he takes his underfire Manchester City side to Anfield on December 1.

Guardiola has suffered a slump in his managerial career this season after going for six games without a win.

The surprising loss of form has given Liverpool and opportunity to open an 11-point lead over the defending champions should they win on Sunday.

It has been the game of the season in recent times, with Guardiola repeatedly rubbing shoulders with Slot's predecessor, Jurgen Klopp. The Dutchman will now have an opportunity to chart his path in this rivalry. Given the champions' current form, he will be backing himself to start off with a win.

Why Liverpool vs Man City has been moved 30 minutes earlier

The game was handed an unusual kick-off time of 7 PM EAT rather than the 7:30 PM EAT of the Sunday late Premier League kickoff.

As GMS explains, it is not the first time that kickoff times between the two giants have been altered. While no official reasoning has been given yet, it is understood to be a security measure by the police to suppress any crowd trouble.

There have been instances in the past of damaged busses, missile throwing and tragedy chanting in this game. The matches have been moved earlier to at the request of the police to deal with this problem.
