Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has once again downplayed title contention talk as his side continues on an upward trajectory.

Maresca recorded a statement win, perhaps the biggest one of his short managerial stint in West London, after Chelsea came from behind to beat their rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham vs Chelsea match report

The Italian saw his side concede twice in the opening 11 minutes after Tottenham capitalised on costly slips from Marc Cucurella.

However, the Blues kept their heads down, with Jadon Sancho pulling one back to halve the deficit. Cole Palmer scored a brace of penalties to add to Enzo Fernandez's goal, rendering Heung-min Son's strike in stoppage time another consolation goal.

But despite the incredible comeback on away ground, Maresca refused to be carried away, insisting his team is not yet ready to go toe-to-toe with the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City.

Enzo Maresca: Why Chelsea aren't ready for EPL yet

The former Leicester City manager referenced Cucurella's slips as something teams don't do if they want to win the title.

"Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool probably don’t slide – as Cucurella did," he said on Sky Sports.

Levi Colwill echoed his manager's sentiments, insisting that the Blues are trying to take it one game at a time.

"We have still got a lot to improve on, when we’re ready to push for a title we won’t be 2-0 down in the first 10 minutes. That’s the level we need to be at, and that’s what we need to keep working on.’"

They then play Brentford on Sunday at home. Chelsea have never beaten the Bees at Stamford Bridge since they were promoted back to the Premier League in 2021.

Why Caicedo avoided a red card vs Tottenham

YEN.com.gh reported that Moises Caicedo avoided a red card for a contentious tackle on Pape Matar Sarr during Chelsea's game against Tottenham.

Referee Anthony Taylor deemed the challenge unworthy of a yellow card, a decision supported by VAR.
