Fake National Service Man Steals Over GH₵30,000 From Ministry Of Health

An auctioneer, Ebernezer Osei, who forged his identity as a National Service personell has been arrested and jailed for 25 year after defrauding the Ministry of Health at a tune of more than GH₵30,000.

John Mensah, according to a report by the Public Accounts Committee, sold some vehicles belonging to the Ghana Health Service amounting to 44,000 and just paid off GH₵7,000 to owners of the vehicle, thus getting away with the rest of the money.

The report also revealed payment of GH₵174,000 to a fraudulent person in 2011 who posed as a contractor engaged to undertake works for the Service by the same fake NSS personell.

Mr Osei is reported to have been assigned to the front desk of the Finance Department of the Health Service thus having access to vital financial information.  Meanwhile, investigations at the National Service Secretariat reveals that no no one by his name had been assigned to the GHS, instead, his appointment letter had been forged with National Service Scheme number belonging to one Richard Twumasi Dankwah who was posted to the Ashanti region.

In the meantime, authorities at the National Service Secretariat are beginning investigations into how the duplication of numbers and registrations by the fraudster happened.
