PHOTOS: Forget jollof, Waakye has been saving lives since 1957
The narrative about jollof rice is a long and well-known one.
Ghanaians, Nigerians and recently Senegalese have engaged in numerous "wars" to determine the origin of this rice dish, but what baffles me is why anyone would want to talk about Jollof when WAAKYE has been saving lives since 1957 (obvs, I can't prove this, I just know it in my heart).
I mean Jollof is alright and everything, but have you seen WAAKYE? (Not the actor above, but the dish below)
The glorious mix of rice and beans that gives every single consumer a taste of heaven has been relegated to the sideline by these loud jollof rice heralds. But that's their loss. A quick look at the hashtag, #WaakyeWednesday on any social media will show you how many people know the WAAKYE is the truth any day.
