Top Ghanaian defender on the radar of Dutch giants Ajax
Ghanaian defender Tariq Lamptey has caught the attention of Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam, who are reportedly considering a late move for the Brighton & Hove Albion wing-back before the January transfer window closes.
With just six months left on his contract, Lamptey is free to negotiate with other clubs ahead of a potential summer transfer.
The 24-year-old has had a decent campaign but has struggled for consistent starts under manager Fabian Hurzeler, prompting him to explore new opportunities.
Reports from England suggest that Ajax is preparing a £1.5 million bid for the versatile defender, who has impressed with his attacking contributions despite limited game time.
Lamptey featured for the full 90 minutes in Brighton’s recent 7-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest, where he was deployed as a left-back.
So far this season, he has made 10 Premier League appearances, registering two goals and two assists.
With Ajax keen on strengthening their squad, Lamptey could be tempted by the opportunity to play regular football in the Eredivisie.
Whether Brighton will accept the Dutch club’s offer remains to be seen as the transfer deadline looms.
