BECE 2025: WAEC Establishes Committee to Question Candidates With Withheld BECE Results

The Head of Public Affairs at the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has reacted to concerns raised by disgruntled students whose results had been withheld.
Speaking in an interview with Adom TV, John Kapi stated that students with issues about the results have been told to visit various WAEC offices to get their concerns addressed.

"We want the process to be quicker so that candidates who are innocent can get their release and also proceed with their school placement. This is why we have invited them. When they come, they will be put before a WAEC committee.
That committee has the scripts where they found evidence of collusion and copying. When you come, we will present the script to you as evidence, and based on that, we will ask you questions. The answers you provide will form the basis on which WAEC will take its decision. We have invited the persons concerned for questioning."
He explained that the Council had embarked on the process to ensure that students with no issues can also be successfully placed into schools.

Details on SHS placement
The Ghana Education Service has announced that the commencement of the school placement exercise for 2025 has been slated for Wednesday, September 17.
Addressing journalists at a press briefing on August 27, the Director-General of the Service, Professor Ernest Kofi Davis, also disclosed that first-year students will report between October 18 and October 20.
Prof. Davis, in his address, stated that the placement exercise had been designed to reduce errors and enhance transparency.
In view of this, candidates have been afforded a review window from September 1 to September 8 to verify their details on the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) portal.
“To reduce errors associated with school placement, candidates will have the opportunity to review the entries they have made"
The Ghana Education Service also released the 2025/2026 academic calendar on August 23.

WAEC releases 2025 BECE results
Earlier, YEN.com.gh reported that WAEC released the 2025 BECE results on August 23 for over 600,000 candidates from 20,395 schools who sat for the examination.
Out of this number, the entire results of 177 candidates were cancelled.
The subject results of 718 candidates were cancelled, and 1,240 candidates had their subject results withheld, whereas the entire results of 93 candidates were withheld.
