Billionaire Ghanaian businessman Ibrahim Mahama has grabbed attention online after he scolded mourners at Manhyia Palace for showering him with exaggerated praise.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Engineers and Planners and brother of President John Mahama joined thousands of other people at Manhyia Palace to mourn the passing of the Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.

The Asantehemaa died on August 7, 2025, and her funeral was held from September 14-18.

Many prominent Ghanaians, including President Mahama, former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, former first lady Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, and others, showed up at different times to mourn with the Asantehene.

Ibrahim Mahama scolds mourners at Manhyia Palace

In a video seen by YEN.com.gh on the TikTok page Shiny Creations, Ibrahim Mahama was seen heading to Manhyia to participate in the final funeral rites (Dote Yie) of the late Asantehemaa.

As he made his way towards the palace, a group of mourners mobbed him and began showering him with praise, describing him as a ‘destiny changer’ and a force for good in the world.

The praise followed the President’s brother fully funding the surgery of Suzzy Pinamang, a student of the Adventist Senior High School (SHS) in Kumasi, who was shot in the face.

Ibrahim Mahama paid for her to be treated in the United Kingdom (UK) to regain her sight and has continued to fund her recovery process.

Despite being praised, the businessman appeared displeased by the noise and the way the crowd was mobbing him, causing him to sharply rebuke them.

Ibrahim Mahama scolds Appiah Stadium

Previously, YEN.com.gh reported that Ibrahim Mahama scolded prominent political commentator and National Democratic Congress backer Appiah Stadium over his behaviour.
