Sammy Flex, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Shatta Wale, has explained the reason behind Medikal's absence at the headquarters of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) during the musician's detention.

On August 21, 2025, a large crowd of supporters converged on the streets outside the agency's office to protest and demand the release of the SM boss after he was detained in connection with investigations into the purchase of his 2019 Lamborghini Urus.
Aside from the fans, Rufftown Records CEO Bullet, former SM Militant member Captan, CEO of the now-defunct Fantasy Dome Leslie Quaynor, and the members of Shatta Wale's management were present to secure the musician's release.

Conspicuous among the notable absentees at the EOCO headquarters was award-winning rapper and close friend of the SM boss, Medikal.
The Shoulder hitmaker also remained silent and avoided participating in the social media campaign to get Shatta Wale released from EOCO's custody.
Following the dancehall musician's release in the evening after spending over 24 hours in custody, rapper Medikal took to social media to celebrate the good news and praise his close friend.
The Beyond Kontrol Music label boss's post infuriated many of Shatta Wale's fans, who blasted him and accused him of abandoning his best friend amid his legal woes.
Sammy Flex explains Medikal's absence at EOCO
In a recent episode of his entertainment show on YouTube, Sammy Flex cleared the air over Medikal's absence at the EOCO headquarters during Shatta Wale's detention.

According to him, the SM boss stopped his close associate from coming to the EOCO headquarters to help secure his release.
Sammy Flex noted that he had several phone conversations with Medikal throughout Shatta Wale's detention and that his manager appeared at the EOCO premises on the night the SM boss was detained.

He said:
"It was Shatta Wale himself who told Medikal not to make an appearance there (EOCO headquarters) because he was coming. Within that time, I was speaking to Medikal back-to-back. I was having back-to-back conversations with him. His manager even came there the night before."
Yaw Boadu-Ayeboafoh speaks on Sammy Flex's remarks
Speaking to YEN.com.gh, entertainment analyst Yaw Boadu-Ayeboafoh shared his thoughts on Sammy Flex's explanation of Medikal's absence and how his statement can shape or repair a celebrity's image, considering the massive backlash he received from fans over his absence throughout Shatta Wale's detention.

"Sammy is the PR of Shatta Wale, so what he says holds weight, and it puts to rest the rumours. The fans must learn to sometimes hear the full story before jumping to conclusions and disparaging musicians on social media."

Shatta Wale jabs EOCO boss after release
Earlier, YEN.com.gh reported that Shatta Wale jabbed the EOCO boss, Raymond Archer, days after his release from detention.
During his performance at the Osu Homowo festival at Hydout Pub on August 26, he claimed that he did not fear anyone.
Shatta Wale also threatened to purchase a third Lamborghini Urus to prove that he had made his big money the legal way.
