Dennis Mukono: Teacher's List of Burial Wishes That Have Divided Opinions

The fallen secondary school teacher from Embu left Kenyans shocked after choosing to fatally harm himself, after his romantic advances to a woman he identified in his writeup as Phedis Wambui.

Mukono, 32, had earlier on been partners with the woman before their breakup.

He said he reached out for help from people, but no one was ready to give him a listening ear.

"I just decided to rest in peace. I have tried all means but all has been in vain...I have shared my stress with 17 people, none talked to me. Let's meet in heaven," he wrote.

What were the fallen Embu teacher's demands?

In his note, Mukono stipulated that he be laid to rest on February 14 in the Kavengero Kwa Ithayu area.

To read his eulogy should be Wambui, the woman he was infatuated with but turned him down.

"Phides Wambui Munyu to ready the eulogy. Burial to take plave on February 14," read the letter partly.

Mukono also specified that his property be distributed among his children, if any.

Charged with organising the send-off ceremony were Embu County Assembly Speaker Josiah Thiriku and Nthaawa ward representative Samuel Njeru.
