President Mahama and Dr Bawumia Walk Side-by-Side Like Brothers, Video Goes Viral

President John Dramani Mahama and former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, were captured walking together while chatting happily with each other.

The two met at the final funeral rites of Sheikh Ali Akwatima, a Muslim cleric, on Saturday, September 6, 2025.

In the video, President John Mahama wore a brown shirt and black trousers, while Dr Bawumia was in a blue three-piece kaftan with a hat.

They shook hands and walked side by side as they conversed. Samira Bawumia, the wife of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, walked ahead of the two gentlemen.

From where they ended up, Dr Bawumia walked with President Mahama to walk him to his car. When President Mahama got to his car, he thanked Dr Bawumia for walking him to the car.

President Mahama said, “Mahamudu, thank you.”

John Mahama, who contested the 2024 general elections on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), defeated Dr Bawumia, who represented the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Meanwhile, Dr Bawumia has made public his intention to make a political comeback in the 2028 Election, while Mahama’s term in office is set to end in 2028 after serving two terms.

The two have often stated that their fathers lived in the same area and called each other neighbours. President Mahama once said he was closer to Dr Bawumia’s older brothers.

“We grew up together, Mahamudu and I. He was younger than me, and so his elder brothers were closer to me than he was. But we knew each other; the families knew each other very well,” John Mahama once said.

Dr Bawumia visits President John Mahama
