AS Roma have parted ways with Daniele De Rossi after an unsatisfactory start to the new Serie A season.
The Giallorossi remain winless in Italy after four games of the new campaign. They have recorded three draws and a loss, leaving them 16th on the table, one point above the relegation places.
How long did De Rossi manage AS Roma?
De Rossi only recently signed a permanent contract on June 25th after serving the remainder of the 2023/2024 campaign. He was appointed on an interim basis after Jose Mourinho was relieved of his duties in January.
"The Club’s decision is adopted in the interest of the team, in order to be able to promptly resume the desired path, at a time when the season is still at its beginning," read part of the club's statement.
AS Roma's next matches
Roma are yet to announce who will take over ahead of a busy period. The side plays Udinese in the Serie A this weekend before hosting Athletico Bilbao in the Europa League next week.
Comparing AS Roma to Mourinho's Fenerbahce
Roma's performances are a stark contrast to Mourinho's new club Fenerbahce. The Portuguese head coach has taken to the Turkish Super Lig like a duck to water. He has only dropped points once in the first five games.
Mourinho receives a yellow card in UCL defeat
YEN.com.gh has previously reported that Jose Mourinho marked his return to the Champions League by quickly landing in the referee's book, earning a yellow card within just ten minutes.
The Portuguese manager was cautioned during Fenerbahce’s 2-1 loss to Lille in the first leg of the qualifying round.
Known for his no-nonsense approach, referee Istvan Kovacs wasted no time in booking "The Special One," who is no stranger to such intense moments on the sidelines.
