Real Madrid Star Endrick Explains Reasons for Not Passing to Mbappe in UCL Clash
- Real Madrid wonderkid Endrick bagged his first Champions League on Tuesday against Stuttgart
- The Brazil international took a shot late in the game despite having Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior
- The young forward explained why he decided not to pass to his experienced teammates who were in a better position
Real Madrid youngster Endrick was on target in Tuesday's 3-1 win over Stuttgart in the Champions League.
The Brazilian wonderkid scored from range, and fans were impressed that he didn't pass to Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior.
The 18-year-old has explained why he didn't pass to his two experienced teammates.
Endrick was on the ball in a Real Madrid counterattack, flanked by Vinicius on his right and Mbappe on his left.
Instead of passing, he unleashed a long-range shot which escaped the hands of goalkeeper Alexander Nubel.
“I knew I had Kylian and Vini, but at that moment the best option was to shoot," the Brazil star said via Sportbible.
Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti was impressed with Endrick's decision to take the shot, per ESPN.
"Endrick had courage. It was the last move of the game. He was convinced he'd score. He went for the most difficult solution, but it went well."
Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois said Mbappe and Vinicius would've been angry if the shot didn't go in.
"If he missed, they [Vinicius and Mbappé] would have killed him!" he said. "But if he has the confidence to shoot...If he scores, everyone keeps quiet!"
The youngster has scored twice in five matches this season, per Transfermarkt.
Mbappe Reacts to Endrick's UCL goal
YEN.com.gh also reported that Mbappe reacted to Endrick taking a shot instead of passing it to him against Stuttgart.
Mbappe, who had called for the ball just moments earlier, could only raise his arms in surprise at the youngster's bold decision.
