Cole Palmer Makes Garnacho’s Brother Eat His Words After Social Media Post
- Cole Palmer is on his way to making the brother of Manchester United's forward Alejandro Garnacho eat back his words
- After a spectacular debut season in Chelsea, Palmer was under pressure to replicate his imperious form in front of goal
- The Blues star has picked up from where he left off last season, registering 10 goal involvements so far under Enzo Maresca
That Cole Palmer is one of the best football players in the world at the moment is not in doubt.
The Chelsea player has made it his business to prove the naysayers wrong week in, week out with immaculate performances in the Premier League.
All these looked like a pipe dream when Chelsea forked out £40million to sign a player who had zero Premier League goals. He scored 22 in his debut season in West London and supplied a further 11.
After his record-breaking season that saw him win the PFA Young Player of the Year, many started asking whether he could replicate his form in the second season.
What did Garnacho's brother say about Palmer?
One such person was the brother of Manchester United forward Alejandro Garnacho, Roberto, who boldly claimed the England international wouldn't even reach 10 non-penalty goals.
"Cole Palmer isn’t hitting 10 goals without penalties," he said on his X account.
Palmer vs Garnacho
However, as things stand, Palmer is on his way to making him eat his words after his four-goal haul against Brighton this past weekend. The goals took his tally to six for the season, with only 15% of the games played. He also has four assists.
Roberto's brother, meanwhile, has had a slow start to the season, scoring only once and assisting once. He is part of the Erik ten Hag squad that is under pressure to produce after collecting only seven points from their first six of the new campaign.
Madueke's message to Palmer
At the same time, YEN.com.gh has reported that Noni Madueke sent a cheeky message to Palmer after the latter scored four goals against Brighton.
Palmer became the first player in the Premier League to score four goals in the first half of a game.
