The 29-year-old is still searching for his first clean sheet in Turkey, having been beaten in each of his opening three Süper Lig appearances.

Onana was culpable in Trabzonspor’s first loss of the season, a 1-0 defeat to Fenerbahçe just three days after he arrived from Old Trafford.

He made partial amends in his second outing, though, by providing an assist that salvaged a 1-1 draw against Gaziantep FK.

Onana concedes two goals in one minute

However, Onana ultimately needed his teammates to rescue him in Trabzonspor’s 4-3 away win over Fatih Karagümrük on Saturday, per Sun Football.

With the Black Sea Storm coasting at 4-1 in stoppage time, Onana shipped two quickfire goals to Chelsea loanee David Datro Fofana.

The Ivorian striker struck twice in under a minute, first squeezing a shot past Onana from a tight angle, before capitalising on a defensive lapse to beat him one-on-one.

Onana joined Trabzonspor earlier this month on a season-long deal after losing his place at Old Trafford, per ESPN.

The Cameroon international had endured a tough two-year stint with Manchester United, where he failed to fully convince as the first-choice goalkeeper and was eventually replaced by Altay Bayındır.

Loan offers Onana chance to return to form

Manchester United signed Onana from Inter Milan in a £47.2 million deal in 2023.

The goalkeeper arrived with a strong pedigree, having reached the Champions League final with the Nerazzurri and lifted three Eredivisie titles during his time at Ajax.

But his spell at Old Trafford proved far less successful, as the Cameroon international struggled to replicate that form across two turbulent years.

This season, he featured only once, in a Carabao Cup defeat to Grimsby Town, before being loaned out to Trabzonspor.
