Houston, US - A lady wearing a trench coat and carrying a child opened fire at a packed Texas megachurch before being shot and killed by security personnel.

According to the police, the 36-year-old suspect, identified by the authorities as Genesse Ivonne Moreno, was in the Houston gunfight with her seven-year-old kid, who sustained serious injuries.

Authorities claimed to have found antisemitic writings and that the attacker had scribbled "Palestine" at the bottom of her firearm.

However, they claimed that the motive behind the shooting was unknown.

What is the status of the man who was shot

BBC reported that following the incident, a 57-year-old man who had been shot in the hip was released from the hospital.

Police stated that the gunwoman's kid, who has not been named, is "fighting for his life" after taking a bullet to the head during the gunfight. However, who shot the boy remains a mystery.

The first gunshots were heard during a live-streamed service at the church. Initially, Pastor Jorge Basave proceeded with the recording, stating to the Houston Chronicle that his intention was to convey serenity.

"I was worried my fear would be contagious," he stated.

What firearm did Genesse Ivonne Moreno use

According to the police, the attacker used an AR-15 weapon. She did not fire her 22-caliber rifle, but she did own one.

The assailant has a history of mental health problems, according to officials, and was under an emergency detention order in 2016.

Moreno has a lengthy history of arrests and convictions for violence, drug possession, and weapons offences, according to public records.

She has been identified as both male and female in official records, and she has previously gone by several different names, including Jeffrey Escalante. During the press briefing, the police identified her as a female Hispanic.

Authorities stated that they think she got into a family argument with her ex-husband's family, which includes several Jewish people.
