According to Chakwera, the 10 left Lilongwe, the capital, on Monday, June 10, at 9.17 a.m. and were expected to land at Mzuzu Airport at 10.02 a.m., but their aircraft could not land due to poor visibility.
"Despite the experience of the aircraft crew, something terrible happened to that aircraft sending it crashing down and killing everyone on board. I understand these feelings of pain and helplessness because I feel them too. It is important that we comfort each other now and the weeks to come as we mourn together," Chakwera said in a statement.
