I had to beg on the streets of Accra for survival after Stars of the Future reality show– Wiyaala

Traditional singer, Noella Wiyaala has revealed how severe hardship in life sent her to beg for alms on the street for survival at a point in her life.

According to Wiyaala, after participating in the Stars of the Future reality show, she went through several challenges and one of the challenges is to beg on the streets of Accra to feed herself.

She revealed did not have a place to lay her head at the time she stayed in Accra, therefore she sadly had to make her way back to Wa, much against her wish.

Wiyaala, noted for her masculine appearance, in an interview on GHONE revealed that she had big plans for herself that did not see the light of the day.

For instance, she hoped to win the Star of the Future season five in 2011, but that did not happen, therefore, thwarting her plans.

She has also deferred her course at the Polytechnic because of the reality show, and so failing to win the ultimate affected her, Wiyaala disclosed.

My mates at the Polytechnic were calling and asking me if I would not return to school, but they did not know what was going on with me; that I was suffering,” Wiyaala said.

She disclosed further that even though her parents showed their willingness to support her, their support were still not enough, meaning she had to fend for herself.

However, today, Wiyaala is one of Ghana’s celebrated musician with international presence.

In 2015, she was solely invited by the Queen of England for a performance at the Buckingham Palace on Queen Elizabeth’s birthday.

And since then, Wiyaala has left no stone unturned in ensuring that she succeeds in the industry.

Despite her rather poor beginning, Wiyaala is currently rubbing shoulders with other heavyweight musicians in Ghana and the world.

She further disclosed that nothing would stop her from working hard in achieving her goals.
