Ghanaian Harvard student openly ‘assaulted’ by police

- A Ghanaian student at Harvard University has been ‘assaulted’ by some Cambridge Policemen

- Selorm Ohene, is reported to have been high on drugs when he was confronted by the police

A Ghanaian Harvard University student was on the receiving end of an assault by some police officers after he was reported to have improperly conducted himself in public.

The incident which happened last Friday saw the student, identified as Selorm Ohene, repeatedly punched by one of the policemen after he was smacked to the ground.

Reports suggest that he was roaming the streets naked, leading to a confrontation with the Cambridge Police.

A viral video of the incident shows the police speaking to Ohene, before pouncing on him some minutes later.

The UK Police say they had no choice than to forcibly take him down, insisting the Ghanaian student resisted arrest when they initially approached him.

Ohene has since been charged with indecent exposure, disorderly conduct, assault and resisting arrest.

However, in a statement, the Mayor of Cambridge, Marc McGovern, assured that the Police will get to the bottom of the matter as investigations have already started.
