Boy, 6, shot to death by younger brother at Somanya

- Residents of the town of Somanya in the Eastern Region have been shocked by the tragic death of a 6-year-old boy

- The boy died after being shot by his younger brother while playing in their grandfather's room

The younger brother, just 4 years old, and his grandfather who owns the gun are assisting police investigations

The Eastern Regional town of Somanya has been shaken by the death of a 4-year-old boy on Thursday.

The boy, six-year-old Alex Ologo Amanor, died after being shot by his younger brother in a freak accident.

According to reports, the boys were playing in their grandfather’s room whiles their parents were away.

The younger brother, Jerry Akuffo who is said to be just four years old, reportedly took a single barrel gun which he had been hidden somewhere in their grandfather's room and shot him.

The tragic incident occurred at 2:30 pm on Thursday afternoon.

Adomonline.com reported that some residents in the area who heard the sound of the gunshot rushed out only to find the Alex in a pool of blood.

The report further stated that the earlier revelations suggested that the gun was shot from about three meters away.

The young suspect and his grandfather had been invited by the police to assist in investigations at the time of this report while the body of the deceased had been taken to Atua Hospital for an autopsy.
