Veteran Actor Mac Jordan Amartey’s funeral reportedly records low turnout

- The veteran actor died in July and was buried on September 8, 2018

- Reports have it that only a handful of actors and actresses were present at the funeral

- The Ghana Actors’ Guild has decried the situation

YEN.com.gh reported the death of the late veteran actor, Mc Jordan Amartey.

He reportedly died on July 5, 2018, at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.

His funeral ceremony, according to an earlier report by YEN.com.gh, was scheduled for September 8, 2018.

Information gathered by YEN.com.gh has it that only a few of the late actor’s colleagues were present at the funeral.

The number of actors and actresses who were there, is said to be a little over ten.

These included: Grace Omaboe, also known as Mame Dokono, Fred Amugi, Gloria Sarfo, some executives of the Ghana Actors’ Guild, Prince David Osei, Oscar Provencal, upcoming actress Louis Saah, among a few others.

In a report sighted on Ghanaweb.com, actress Gloria Sarfo was said to have expressed shock at the low turnout by her colleague actors and actresses.

Gloria Sarfo is reported to have complained bitterly about how the funeral ceremony was abandoned by her other colleagues.

She reportedly called for change in the movie industry, urging all players to support each other in times of need.

Adding his voice to the disappointment, the president of the Ghana Actors’ Guild, Sam Fiscian, said the low turn-out was very discouraging and a disrespect to the family of the late actor.

“How is the family feeling by now, knowing how Mc Jordan’s funeral recorded this low turnout from his colleague actors and actresses?” Sam Fiscian querried.

Meanwhile, Mc Jordan Amartey, popularly known was Sugar Daddy, was laid to rest at the Gethsemane Memorial Gardens in East Legon, Accra.

He died at Korle Bu after battling some diseases including the amputation of one of his legs, according to reports.

Amartey’s contemporaries includes David Dontoh, Maame Dokono, Brew Riverson Jnr, late George Williams, Grace Nortey, Oscar Provencal, and many others.
